The School’s fundamental objective is to prepare children to become engaged Global Citizens of the 21st Century that can meet the challenges and opportunities facing the world in this age of globalization. The School features an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme curriculum within the context of an English-Spanish Dual Language immersion program. Mandarin is offered starting in 3rd grade.
Children attending The Magellan International School will become fully bi-literate in English and Spanish, will achieve proficiency in Mandarin, and will be exposed to a curriculum that will allow them to understand and appreciate cultures from around the world. This world class curriculum will be taught by native speakers of English and Spanish as well as the other target languages, will excel in all aspects of a child’s education including math and science, and will meet the highest international certification standards as set forth by the International Baccalaureate Organization, the Council of International Schools, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The School is appropriately named after Ferdinand Magellan, Portuguese explorer who conceived of and led the first successful expedition to circumnavigate the world. It is this same curiosity, passion, and capacity for achievement in a global context that the School aims to give its students.
