Tuition Grant & Aid Program
2010/2011 Grant & Aid
The Magellan International School is committed to ensuring socio-economic diversity in its student body and has instituted a need based Tuition Grant & Aid Program to support this goal. Tuition assistance is awarded to families cannot otherwise afford to pay the full school tuition. Award amounts vary depending on the need of the family. The Grant & Aid Program is also targeted at families with multiple children at the school when the combined tuition and fee costs for all the children exceeds their ability to pay.
Financial assistance requests are not taken into account when applicants are being considered for admission. The School intends to offer aid to every accepted student who demonstrates need. However, because financial considerations are not a factor in admissions, the combined financial need of students at MIS generally exceeds the limits of the School’s Grant & Aid Budget. Families who register their children and then decide not to attend MIS because of an insufficient award will be reimbursed their registration fees in full.
Financial information submitted by parents is kept strictly confidential, and the names of Grant & Aid recipients are disclosed only to specified administrators and only when necessary.
Applying for the Tuition Grant & Aid Program
MIS has partnered with FACTS Grant & Aid Assesment to manage the assesment process. The FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment program is being used in schools throughout the nation and their analysis assists our own Grant & Aid Committee in this important process.
To apply for the Grant & Aid Program families must use the FACTS Grant & Aid Assesment system on-line. FACTS will mail families a confirmation letter to acknowledge that they have received the application/documentation and will also send a reminder letter if they have not received the supporting documentation. Once all information is received by FACTS, FACTS will review the application and financial information and make a recommendation to MIS regarding the amount of assistance, if any, that should be granted to the applicant family. MIS then considers the FACTS recommendation in light of its own Grant & Aid Budget and makes a final decision on the award amount, if any. It is important to remember that FACTS does not make the award decision. It simply provides MIS with a recommended award amount based on the family's particular financial situation.
MIS will notify parents of the Grant & Aid award, if any, within 2-3 weeks after FACTS has received the application and supporting documentation.
Deadline to apply for the Grant & Aid Program for the 2010/2011 school year:
JULY 1, 2010
Applications received after this date will considered subject to budget availability only.
