Ana Bean, Teaching Assistant

Country of Origin: Mexico
Education: BA in Communications

Ana Bean was born and raised in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Being close to her family has always been a very important to her, therefore in September 2001, she moved to Austin, Texas, along with her parents and siblings. Her family's motivation was to provide her youngest sister, who is deaf, with a better education. The transition was hard for her at the beginning; however, she managed to successfully complete high school and college in the US.

Ana had the opportunity to become friends with students from all over the world as she attended Westwood High School. New friendships sparked her interest in travel and experiencing different cultures. Upon her high school graduation she decided to attend Concordia University in Texas where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. Ana always wanted to study abroad in another country and thus decided to complete a semester abroad in Costa Rica. She loved the experience and found the warmth of its people and the richness of its culture to be very appealing. She also appreciated the beautiful landscapes that can only be found in Costa Rica’s tropical paradise.

Ana is now pursuing her Master’s Degree in Education at Texas State University. She also aspires to obtain a teaching certification in bilingual education because she believes that being a bilingual teacher opens twice the doors in one’s future.

Her experience working with children began during her college years. She started working at the Austin International School as the afterschool care program coordinator. Ana also served as a teacher’s assistant during summer camps. She truly enjoys working with children because of the experience described by the words of Paulo Coelho, "A child can teach an adult three things: to be happy for no reason, to always be busy with something, and to know how to demand with all his might that which he desires."

Ana is truly ecstatic to become a part of the MIS community and wishes to keep learning and growing along with all of those who are part of the community at the Magellan International School.
