Mrs. Mariluz Arveliaz Morfe is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. In 1998, she received her Bachelor's Degree from José María Vargas University in Special Education and Learning Disabilities.

With 19 years of experience in the field of Education, she has worked in Venezuela and Florida (USA).  In Venezuela she worked as a Kindergarten teacher at the Colegio Teresiano and Moral y luces Herzl “Hebraica” (Hebrew) school. At Hebraica she also participated in the Villas (Arts) summer camp at the Museum of contemporary art Sofia Imber, for children with special needs, where she learned sign language and Braille.

She worked in a program for the inclusion of children with special needs in regular classrooms through the encouragement of fundamental values like: tolerance, collaboration, and respect, through various educative and recreational activities.
She continued as a Kindergarten teacher (working on the reading and writing processes in English and Spanish, implementing the PYP; as well as the “Visible Thinking” methodology (from Project Zero) in which through the use of Thinking Routines, the students managed to highlight and increase their capacity for analysis, observation and processing information and language. She also worked as an advisor for the Education First Group to train school principals, teachers and teaching assistants in Thinking Routines and their implementation in the classroom.

Mariluz says, “As a mother of a 3 year old child, I truly believe in the importance of preparing our children with the necessary tools to meet the everyday challenges of a fast changing, multicultural world.”

Mrs. Mariluz Arvelaiz is thrilled to be part of the MIS family and she hopes to contribute with her knowledge to help students become in charge of their own learning, and meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
