She also implemented stimulating lessons to capture students' interest, and to help struggling students improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills.

After three years, Marisol started working at the American Institute of Monterrey, S.C., where she was a Pre – School teacher for six year olds. Her focus was on developing and implementing student–centered lessons in all subject areas, using a wide variety of differentiation strategies and adapting lessons to meet individual needs by reviewing student´s background and learning styles.
One year later, a new school open in Monterrey, called the Euroamerican School of Monterrey, and Marisol worked there, one year as a Kinder teacher aide, and later as a Pre- Kinder Teacher. There, she planned and implemented lessons in all subject areas. She taught reading and writing through Language Experience Approach methods and taught integrated units utilizing a variety of resources including books, technology, and hands-on activities. She established an active learning environment through positive feedback, using cultural activities, songs, and materials to enhance student learning and self-esteem.

She and her family moved to Austin in December 2009, where Marisol started a Masters in Education, specialized in Curriculum and Instruction at Concordia University. She also obtained her Texas Teacher Certification in Bilingual Generalist (EC-6), Generalist (4-8), Mathematics (4-8), and English as a Second Language (EC-8).

Marisol believes that education begins at home and schools are student’s second homes; she thinks each child is unique and special in a different way and that education should be adaptive and flexible to the needs of the learner and society.  She takes great care to instill in her students important values as sharing, respect, and honesty, taking advantage of classroom situations to stress these values.

Marisol is extremely happy to be part of the MIS staff and is looking forward to share her joy and love for kids in her classroom. She believes that, in this globalized world, there is nothing better than to be a part of a multicultural and multilingual community, so Magellan International School is the perfect place for her.
