| Education: | Associate Diploma in Child Care Studies, BA in Early Childhood Education |

Rochelle is a native of Australia. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Western Sydney in Australia and an Associate Diploma in Child Care Studies and Science from TAFE in Liverpool, New South Wales, Australia. After receiving this associate’s diploma she started working in a 0 to 5 Early Childhood Centre in Sydney. While there she began her studies at the University of Western Sydney. During her studies she worked in various early childhood environments and institutions throughout the Sydney area, as well as working within diverse settings including the St Vincent De Paul and Odyssey House community organizations.
After gaining her Bachelor’s Degree Rochelle relocated to Cairo, Egypt to teach 4 year old children at an international school where English was the second language for most of the students. She then had the opportunity to teach in four separate continents where she has worked with various curriculums and various age levels ranging from 4 years of age till 11 years. This experience included teaching 1st grade at the Frankfurt International School in Germany where she was introduced to the PYP. Most recently Rochelle spent two years as a self contained (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies) IB teacher at the 4th and 5th grade level at the Copenhagen International School in Denmark.
Since her introduction to the PYP, Rochelle has not looked back as she believes that she has been given great opportunities to grow and learn as a teacher within this framework of the IB PYP. Rochelle feels that the PYP curriculum best reflects her attitude and ideas of what education should be about and how it should be delivered to make students more eager to take responsibility for driving their own learning.
Rochelle has been interested for some time in working within a fully bilingual PYP school and is excited to become a part of the Magellan International School community. She plans to learn to speak Spanish while at MIS as she firmly believes that being multilingual is one of the greatest assets in life and that is fosters the development of a more internationally minded person. Rochelle She has been able to use her teaching as a way to explore and immerse herself in other cultures and to develop into a more open minded and reflective person, who has been able to share these experiences wherever she has gone. It has also given her the opportunity to meet and work with people from various countries and have experiences that she firmly believes have significantly impacted her overall professional and personal life.
Rochelle enjoys travelling immensely and hopes to get the opportunity to see more of the Americas while living In Austin. She also enjoys photography, reading, history, museums, Pilate's and trying new things. "I am looking forward to being a part of the team at Magellan and working with the families, staff and community here."
