Middle School Experiential Trips

An important aspect of our Middle School is the opportunity for travel with each other for the purposes of social, emotional and personal development. The 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who participate in these trips will have the opportunity for cultural enrichment and to build a unique set of skills to travel outside of one’s comfort zone.

The destination for trips can change on an annual basis, based upon learning priorities, however, annual trips will share the following characteristics and goals:

  • 6th grade – Trip within Texas, focused on team building
  • 7th grade – Trip within the US, focused on service learning and outdoor living skills
  • 8th grade – International Trip, focused on cultural and full language immersion

Trips are chaperoned by MIS staff and have defined safety and security protocols.

To cover expenses of these trips, Middle School students host a variety of fundraisers throughout the year, including bake sales and Parent Night’s Out. To ensure that all students can participate in these transformative trips, families receiving financial aid and others not able to fully meet the expense of the trip may request support for these trips.
