MYP Physical and Health Education
By developing the skills and mental mindset to live a healthy physical life and to make healthy informed lifestyle choices at a young age; students are more likely to take these habits into their adult lives.
In Physical & Health Education (PHE) in Middle School at MIS, students will learn to develop better strategies to manage time and incorporate physical fitness into their daily lives. Students will enhance their strength and flexibility while acquiring a higher level of endurance and stamina. Through team sports and activities, students will begin to build a better sense of self-awareness and understanding to strengthen their self esteem.
Through in-class discussions and activities during PHE students will learn and/or increase their knowledge of the effects our choices have in our lives. Students will achieve a better understanding of how society and social settings influence our daily lives as a community and as individuals.
MYP Physical Education works in alignment with, but not limited to, the National Association of Sports and Physical Education as well as the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) and SIECUS (Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States).
