What is common about our students at MIS? They are all between the ages of 3 through 8th grade, wear our school uniforms every day and share a commitment and interest in becoming global citizens. However, there are many more unique characteristics of our student body.
While the majority of our students come from English-language-only homes, a number come from homes where Spanish is the only spoken language while some speak other or more than one language at home.
As an international school, many of our students were born in countries other than the United States to parents who are citizens of another country. It is common for classes to learn about special celebrations or holidays unique to a student’s background or culture whether its Holi, Chinese New Year or dia de los Muertos.
Families at MIS live all over the Austin metropolitan area. While we currently offer student transportation from Bee Caves/MOPAC and Mueller, our families reside as far north as Leander and Georgetown, as far east as Manor, as far west as Lakeway and as far south as Kyle. A large majority of families reside in Northwest and Great Hills, Central Austin and East Austin/Mueller. Our families share the priorities and values of our school and often make sacrifices for their children to attend our school.
