Building connections
through imaginative play.

Creating bilingual citizens, ready for Kinder.

Our students develop life-long skills in a Spanish immersion environment with diverse teachers and classmates. They explore global cultures and take an active role in their own learning in a positive, nurturing and loving atmosphere. They learn to ask questions and inquire as they make sense of the world around them while building language, math and literacy skills.

Highlights

Passionate, Diverse Teaching Team

Lead teachers and teaching assistants have an average of 17 years experience, with an average 4 year tenure at Magellan. Our teachers call 7 different countries home. Our Head of Preschool is a global International Baccalaureate lead site visitor, consultant and workshop leader.

Social & Emotional Growth

While our teaching team works to harbor the understanding of empathy and caring during the school day, dedicated licensed counselors work with our students to strengthen their problem solving skills and discuss positive ways to resolve conflicts.

Language & Dramatic Play

Through Spanish immersion as well as complimentary instruction in English, our students learn foundational skills in both languages in the classroom. Through listening and speaking, viewing and presenting, pre-reading and pre-writing activities, our students are developing as bilingual citizens of the world and preparing for Kindergarten.

The Arts

A sense of creative expression is fostered by a dedicated Art teacher and dedicated Music teacher who meet with students on a weekly basis. Guiding them to find connections between learning, creativity and personal expression, children build fine motor skills while painting, sculpting, playing instruments and dancing.

Math & Dramatic Play

Math is introduced to our young students in a meaningful, relevant way through play. When children pretend to cook in the kitchen area, they talk about fractions (I need half a stick of butter), measurement (Pour in 2 cups of milk), counting (Beat in four eggs), and sequencing (First, stir the batter). It’s through this play that math is made fun and engaging.

Design Thinking

At the intersection of academic skill, problem solving and creative expression lies Design Thinking, an integral part of the Primary Years Program at Magellan. Our young learners are exposed to the concepts of creative problem solving, trial and error and project management, skills that prepare them for greater exploration in Kinder at the Magellan i.Lab.

Meet the
Students

Meet Esha! When she grows, up she’s excited to be a doctor. She loves learning and playing at Magellan, but her favorite activities are arts, crafts and music with Mr. Rolo. When Esha’s at home with her family, her favorite activities are swimming, soccer and taking care of her little sister, Jiya!

Meet Austin! He just started at Magellan this year, but is already loving his teachers and classmates. In particular, his favorite class is music with Mr. Rolo. When he’s not studying and playing hard at school, he loves to swim. When Austin grows up, he wants to be Iron Man!

Meet Margie! She loves going to Magellan, but especially having art with Mr. Dan. While she’s very interested in becoming a mermaid when she grows up, she’s also seriously considering becoming a fairy. To prepare for these jobs, she’s been hard at work learning to swim without floaties and ride a bike without training wheels!

Meet Lia! She is so excited to be at Magellan, learning more Spanish and especially enjoys her Physical Education classes each week with Coach Rubi. While she’s at home, her favorite activity is playing with her little brother Noah (and she’s super proud to be a big sister to him!). When Lia grows up, she wants to be a golfer AND a librarian!
