Student
Life

Outside of the classroom, Magellan students are busy building skills, exploring the world and getting the work done. Through a variety of after school activities, school sponsored clubs and athletics and trips near and far, our students can stay busy well beyond the regular school day hours.

Athletics

Intramural and competitive teams

Magellan’s athletic offerings after school allow students to develop their competitive spirit and the IB profile attributes while participating in team programs. Intramural athletics are available for students from K-5th while competitive team play begins in 4th grade.

Experiences to build a
Global Perspective

Overnight Trips

Beginning in 3rd grade, Magellan students may (optionally) participate in overnight trips. These age-appropriate experiences provide students with the opportunity to grow and learn together as part of our community and refine the IB profile attributes as they successfully navigate their adventures.

Student Exchange Program

Magellan has a formal exchange program with Humanitas Bilingual School in Torrejon de Ardoz, Spain, outside Madrid. All 7th grade students from each school are invited to apply. Selection is based on leadership, academics, citizenship, and interest. Students from Spain spend two weeks at MIS in January and MIS students visit Humanitas in Spain for two weeks in March. This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate our IB Learner Profile traits and be immersed in a Spanish culture.
